To be fair, Meco's services have improved, albeit incrementally. Last year, whenever rains were particularly strong, the type when raindrops hitting your face actually hurt ... you can expect a blackout to follow. This year, though, there are times when we still have power even during exceptionally heavy rains.
Unlike our more fortunate neighbors serviced by the Visayan Electric Co. (VECO) across the bridge, Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova residents do not get announcements of scheduled power interruptions. VECO makes it a point to place newspaper advertisements of scheduled blackouts and go the rounds of radio stations to announce the scheduled power interruption.
MECO, on the other hand, doesn't seem to care. I've never read nor heard announcements of scheduled blackouts from MECO. I suspect they don't take the effort to announce scheduled power interruptions.
What I do, instead, is call MECO to ask whether there is a scheduled blackout in times when I absolutely have to use a computer and kids are crying because they can't sleep because it's so darn hot!
I envy residents serviced by VECO. Not only does VECO take customer relationships seriously, it also has advance facilities to deal with subscribers.
This 11:00 o'clock in the morning ... another service interruption from our reliable MEDIOCRE ELECTRIC COMPANY (MECO). Great timing! :-))

Mactan has become a key economic and residential area of Cebu and if MECO cannot improve their service they should sell the company to VECO or ask VECO to manage it.
It is time for the people of Mactan to demand our government to take action for this worsening power crisis situation in this vital part of Cebu.
Calling all our political leaders to lobby this concern before the next election.
Walang kwenta itong MECO sa Mactan..Next time kung mag brown.out kayu mag.advice naman sana ka.u sa lahat ng tao dahil meron din kaming dapat e.prepare tulad ng mga isda ko..lahat ng koi ko muntik ng mamatay lahat bwisit ka.u..buti sana kung nagkulang kami sa pag.bayad ng kuryente nin.u e.fully paid naman kami lgi at on time pa...sana kaau na lng mamatay.
wala kau abiso kung ilang oras pala nin.u ibabalik yung kuryente...bwisit kau MECO..Lintik lng ang walang ganti.
